The Red Devils’ European Championship pool has also been complete since Tuesday evening. In addition to Slovakia and Romania, Belgium also has to cross swords with Ukraine, which qualified via the jump-offs at the expense of Iceland. Host country Germany impressed again with a late practice victory against the Netherlands.

The Red Devils were placed in a quite feasible group during the draw for the group stage of the European Championship. After all, Romania and Slovakia should not cause too many problems. The last spot would go to one of the clubs that managed to secure jump-off matches through the Nations League.

Three additional European Championship participants

After Israel and Bosnia were defeated last Thursday, it was still between Iceland and Ukraine on Tuesday. The Icelanders were able to take the lead after half an hour of play. But through Tsyhankov and Mudryk, the Ukrainians lived up to their favorite status. A welcome boost for the war-affected country.

Two more European Championship tickets were also handed out. The most surprising of these went to Georgia, which beat Greece on penalties. In Wales-Poland extra time was necessary after regular playing time had ended 0-0.

Strong Germany, Portugal decline

There were also a number of practice matches on the programme. We were looking forward to the top match between the Netherlands and the new Germany. The Dutch team quickly managed to take the lead. But the Germans came alongside after a few minutes and were then by far the dominant team. In the end, Füllkrug scored the deserved 2-1 victory.

Denmark in turn won 2-0 against Faroe Islands, Dreyer (Anderlecht) provided an assist. The biggest surprise of the evening came from Slovenia, which won 2-0 against Portugal under national coach Martinez. Finally, vice world champion France won 3-2 from Chile despite an early goal.
