A Batopin cash point has already been opened in Kontich-Centrum and a location is also being investigated in Waarloos. But there appear to be no plans (currently) for Kontich-Kazerne, where the last bank machine is disappearing.

This became apparent after an intervention by CD&V in the municipal council with the request to take the initiative to ensure that an ATM would remain in Kontich-Kazerne. “We believe that every residential/shopping center should have a vending machine, including Kontich-Kazerne,” says group leader Marc Van den Brande. “Has there been contact with the company that is rolling out the cash points and what are the criteria on which they base their decision on where to install a cash point?” he asked.

“To my knowledge, there has been no contact about this,” says Mayor Bart Seldeslachts (N-VA. “Providing an ATM ourselves, which we have considered, appears to be too expensive. In Kontich-Kazerne it was also briefly considered to install an ATM. in the Den Alf community center, but there turned out to be insufficient space for that.”

“The options appear to be limited. In Kontich-Kazerne, money can still be requested in the supermarket. ”

The basic principle at Batopin is that almost every Belgian should be able to find a cash point within five kilometers.
