HLN chef Piet Huysentruyt once again visits various Flemish people and BVs for VTM to solve some culinary barbecue problems. The Flemish likes a barbecue whenever the weather permits, but even there things go wrong every now and then.

In the first XL episode he visits former Miss Belgium’s Ann Van Elsen and Véronique De Kock. He teaches them how to make perfectly lacquered ribs and delicious scampi skewers in a matching cream sauce. Pork tenderloins and sea bream in a salt crust are also on offer. Until June 16 you will discover a new episode every week on Sunday evening.

For Ann Van Elsen, the problem is very clear: her family loves tasty ribs from ours on the barbecue, but the end result always looks blackened. “You should only paint the ribs when they already have a crust, so you put them on the grill first,” Piet explains in the first episode. “Also paint them in several phases. And don’t lose sight of the meat, turn it regularly. Be sure to let it cook slowly.”
