The king wears a uniform full of insignia, Queen Mary a long dress of velvet and lace.

The dress was designed by Birgit Hallstein and ‘completely new’. So not an altered copy.

Crown Jewels
In terms of jewelry, Mary opted for the combination of emerald and diamond. The set (tiara, necklace, brooch and earrings) was made in 1840 by jeweler Weisshaupt for King Christian VIII. He gave it as a gift to his wife, Queen Caroline Amalie, probably on the occasion of their silver wedding on May 22, 1840. Because the parure is one of the crown jewels, the jewels may only be worn by the queen. Mary in this case. If she is not wearing parure, he can be found in the secure basement under Rosenborg Castle. The set, including diadem, is not allowed to leave the country.

You can’t see the necklace very well because of the dress, but she is wearing it.

Order
In Denmark it is customary for female members of the Royal House to wear a miniature portrait of the reigning queen. Previously, Mary wore a portrait of Queen Margrethe, now one of her husband, King Frederik. The portrait was made by the British artist Tom Mulliner and set in a frame of gold and brilliants. The frame was once made for Empress Amelie of Brazil. When the Empress was childless, the frame passed to the Empress’s sister, Queen Josefina of Sweden. The frame later passed to the granddaughter of Queen Josefina, the later Queen Lovisa of Denmark, and she was the first Danish queen to wear a portrait of the Danish regent in this special frame. Later, Queen Alexandrine and Queen Ingrid wore the frame during their husbands’ reigns, and from 1972 until the enthronement in January 2024, Queen Margrethe wore it with a portrait of her father, Frederik 9.
