The Dutch singer S10, best known to us for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with the song The depth, has been struggling with mental problems for years. A documentary was now made about her life, and especially those mental problems.

Directors Linda Hakeboom and Rolf Hartogensis contribute That things continue to go well for me a candid and vulnerable insight into the life of the young singer. The highlight of the recordings was during Eurovision Song Contest in Turin where S10, alias Stien den Hollander, performed for almost 200 million viewers worldwide. But filming also took place at her home.

Stien explains how she ended up in various youth institutions at a young age due to mental problems. “What I experienced then, I will carry with me for the rest of my life,” she says. “My fame has grown in recent years, but at the same time the past started to gnaw at me. I suffered traumas that I tried to hide. But is it okay if I keep doing that? Maybe it’s better to battle my inner demons.”

The makers chose S10 for a documentary on this sensitive theme, something that many young people of this generation struggle with, because the singer is popular among young people. The hope is to make the subject more open to discussion among this target group.

The end of next month is European Mental Health Week. The documentary will therefore be broadcast on NPO3 on Wednesday, May 22.
