Ltd“For some time now I have been looking for a way to tell my story, hoping to add something new to the MeToo discussion as a perpetrator of transgressive behavior.” Bart De Pauw (55) wrote this in an Instagram post – his first sign of life in years – after the media storm surrounding the documentary ‘The process that no one wanted’. And according to ‘Dag Allemaal’, Bart has already told his side of the story during a lecture.

These were eventful weeks for Bart De Pauw and the women who took civil action in the lawsuit surrounding his inappropriate behavior. Central to this: whether or not to broadcast the documentary ‘The Process That Nobody Wanted’, in which the women in question tell their stories, on Canvas. At first it was going to happen, but then VRT boss Frederik Delaplace decided that broadcasting was not appropriate after all, because according to him, reconciliation talks between Bart and those involved were in the pipeline – although the majority of the women appeared not to have been contacted. In addition, it was leaked that the VRT boss was in conversation with De Pauw, and he allegedly asked to “remove factual inaccuracies from the documentary”. After fierce protest from a large group of media figures – including VRT celebrities – Delaplace finally decided to bring the three-part series to the screen, with the result that the first episode attracted twice as many viewers as usual in that time slot: more than 540,000 .

Bart De Pauw himself also responded in an Instagram message. He admitted that he asked the VRT CEO to delete certain things from the documentary before the broadcast and also “was wrong” in his behavior towards the women involved. In addition, he also wrote: “I have explained that for some time now I have also been looking for a way to tell my story, not to repeat the process, but in the hope of adding something new to the metoo as a perpetrator of transgressive behavior. -discussion.” According to information gathered by ‘Dag Allemaal’, the disgraced presenter has already put his words into words and effectively told his side of the story and his view on how the process went. He did this during a lecture at a West Flemish business club. “He spoke with an eye for what he did, but certainly also for what he did not do,” said the weekly. “He did not always speak from his point of view as a perpetrator.”
