LtdSinger Natalia Druyts (43) had fifteen of her eggs frozen a few years ago. “A friend advised me to do this at the time, in case I did not find a partner but still wanted children,” she now says in ‘Goeiemorgen morgen’ on Radio2.
Natalia was a guest of Peter Van de Veire on Radio2 on Wednesday morning. The presenter asked her about a good deed she had once done and the singer clearly did not have to think about it for long. “A few years ago I had fifteen eggs frozen,” she says. Although it turned out that she didn’t need it in the end. “Six months later I met Frederik and that ultimately resulted in two beautiful children.” So Natalia decided to donate her frozen eggs to someone who cannot have children. “I thought for a long time about what to do with those eggs, but in the end, donating them was the best act of my life,” she explains.
“So if in a few years we hear a beautiful voice on ‘Idol’, we can suggest that it might be one of yours,” Peter then notes. “No, I have clearly stated in the contract that no Belgians may be included. “I also said that I wanted to donate them, but that I don’t need to know where they are or who they are,” she adds.
Natalia and her partner have been together since 2018. They welcomed their daughter Bobbi-Loua in 2020. In 2021, their daughter had a little brother: Apollo. Although expanding the family was not actually on the couple’s plans at all. “Bobbi-Loua was a stargazer and didn’t want to come out,” Natalia admitted at the time during ‘James the musical’ on Play4. “I wanted to give birth at home, in the bath, and after 16 hours I thought she was finally going to come out. Not so, because I only had an opening of two centimeters. Then we went to the hospital. In the end it took 36 hours. I thought, ‘I’m only going to do this once, so I’m going to do it right and get everything I can out of it.’ But then corona came and we only had to take care of our daughter. She is such a nice child, and then we knew: ‘There has to be another one.’”
