LtdNiels Destadsbader (35) responded briefly on Radio2 to the terrible period he has gone through. At the beginning of this month, the singer saw his loft go up in smoke during a serious fire.
Destadsbader is a guest on Radio2 every Wednesday evening to look ahead to his VRT1 show ‘I ask it’. However, the singer has not been present in the past two weeks because he was too upset after the serious fire that engulfed his loft in early March. Tonight he signed for the first time again. “I have not had my most pleasant period,” he reflected. “I have been quite sad, but now I can laugh again. I’m glad I got out again. I am also very grateful for the many sweet messages from my fans. They were even waiting for me at the entrance of the VRT.”
The fire broke out on March 7 at HVP Lighting, a lighting manufacturer in Deerlijk. Destadsbader, who lives in a loft above the company, was able to escape the blaze in time and also managed to get his dog to safety.
After the fire, Destadsbader’s fans supported him by starting up various crowdfundings. The singer also responded earlier on Instagram. “It’s not the stones. Nor the clothes. But the memories disappeared,” he then added to a photo of the fire-fighting works.
