What exactly is bee pollen?

Bee pollen is pollen grains that bees collect from flowers and trees. Pollen grains are an essential health food for bees. Not only bees benefit from these pollen grains. Bee pollen is also good for people. Bee pollen contains proteins, vitamins and minerals, among other things.

Hair, nails and skin

Bee pollen is super healthy. Thanks to the vitamins it contains, taking bee pollen also promotes the growth and health of your hair, nails and skin. Bee pollen contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12. These vitamins stimulate hair growth. Vitamins A and B also help with nail growth and vitamin A gives you healthier skin. Who doesn’t want beautiful long hair, smooth healthy skin and strong long nails?

Will it make you lose weight?

Because pollen grains contain many nutrients, people often feel full after ingesting bee pollen. This reduces the appetite for some people, which may cause you to lose weight. In addition, taking bee pollen improves your digestion. This allows you to absorb nutrients better, which in turn leads to less appetite and possible weight loss. Pollen also stimulates your metabolism. A more active metabolism leads to more calorie burning, which also means you lose weight. So it is certainly a possibility that you will lose weight when you take bee pollen.

Reduce hay fever

Do you want to suffer less from your hay fever? Then bee pollen is something for you. Bee pollen contains a high amount of quercetin. This substance has a histamine inhibiting effect. Histamine plays a role in your immune system and therefore also in your hay fever. This is why bee pollen works so well in reducing hay fever complaints. The bee pollen prevents the production of histamine and thus relieves the complaints.

Do your breasts grow from bee pollen?

There are videos going around on TikTok of women claiming that bee pollen has made their breasts grow. Is this really true? Bee pollen contains estrogens, which are female hormones. Estrogens have the effect of, among other things, the production of fatty tissue in the breasts and the retention of fluid. These estrogens are converted in your body, but this is different for every woman. The effect is therefore greater for some than for others. Theoretically it is possible that bee pollen can give you bigger breasts, but it is doubtful. So there is no scientific proof that bee pollen makes your breasts grow.

How do you take it then?

If you have never used pollen or bee pollen before, you should increase the amount slowly. Start with just a few granules per day. If you want, you can take a little more every day. If you take up to one tablespoon per day, this is enough and you do not have to build up more. It is advised not to take bee pollen in the evening. Take them with your breakfast, for example add them to yoghurt. Bee pollen is not very tasty on its own. They taste slightly sweet and don’t smell great. It is important to keep them dry and well closed. You do that? Then they will last longer than one year. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we advise you to consult your doctor before taking bee pollen.
