‘More than 700 kilometers of range’
Meet the Audi Q6L e-tron. Indeed: an electric Q6 e-tron with a size more. The Audi Q6L e-tron is not only longer than the model known here, but also has a larger battery pack and, as a result, a greater range than the versions known here.
Various models are slightly longer in China than in Europe. This also applies to Audi. For example, the A3 Limousine, A6 Limousine and even the Q2 and Q5 have been around just a little longer than in Europe. These longer versions mainly provide more legroom in the back. Audi is now also introducing the electric Q6 e-tron to the Chinese market. You feel it coming: the Q6 e-tron is called Q6L e-tron in China and is a size longer.
To be clear: the Q6L e-tron is the longer and only form in which the electric SUV comes on the market in China. You should not confuse it with the SUV that is simply called Audi Q6 in China. After all, that is a completely different model that has nothing to do with the Q6 e-tron. You can read more about it here. Okay, back to the Q6L e-tron. It extends over a distance of 4.88 meters and is 11 centimeters longer than the original. The wheelbase of the Q6L e-tron is 10.5 centimeters longer. That means: more legroom. The greater distance between the front and rear axle gives the version of the SUV developed for China more advantages.
The front of the Chinese Q6L e-tron is clearly different from that of this International model.
The increased wheelbase makes it possible for Audi to install a larger battery pack in the Q6L e-tron. The largest battery pack that will be installed in the Q6 e-tron in Europe measures 100 kWh. The Audi Q6L e-tron has a 107-kWh package in its base. It gives the SUV an electric range of more than 700 kilometers. Please note: this was measured according to the CLTC method, which is not identical to the WLTP cycle.
Are there more differences? Certainly, and that is striking. Often, extended models developed for China hardly differ from the original. However, the Chinese Q6L e-tron has a completely different front. The design of the lower and upper light units has not changed. Something different: the complete grille. The Single Frame copy of the European model makes way for a grille cut into two parts that is split by part of the bumper in body color. The Chinese Q6L e-tron has a cooling slot between the upper light units. Furthermore, the lower closed part of the grille dips down in almost a straight line. The content of the panel is also different. On the Q6L e-tron it is littered with horizontal stripes. The complete front bumper is also new. The adjustments to the rear seem limited. Here we notice a different rear bumper, an illuminated Audi logo and subtly different rear lights. Another distinction: unlike ‘our’ Q6 e-tron, the Q6L e-tron has recessed handles in the doors!
Audi promises that the Q6L e-tron also differs from the international shorter model on the inside, but it has not yet released any images of this. The Audi Q6L e-tron will soon roll off the production line in Changchun, China and will be launched on the market as a 347 hp powerful rear-wheel drive and as a 470 hp variant with quattro drive and therefore two electric motors.
