“Delicious fresh grapes at the lowest market price, which you can find at Lidl,” the supermarket chain announced on its Facebook page. Many followers felt called to respond to the message. The reactions were divided.

“Very tasty, I like it with everything,” Maria said. “I think the grapes turn brown quickly,” Ingrid responded. “Your grapes are indeed tasty in general,” Sonja wrote. “I don’t like fruit anymore. Throw it away more than eat it,” Lieve responded. “So I go to the market for fruit. I’d rather spend a little more.”

Brown stains

Maaike said she was dissatisfied. “The commercial on TV, with full shelves of fresh fruit, is not noticeable here in Balen. The shelves are a third empty and most of the fruit is not fresh. Brown spots on a container of oranges…”

“And as icing on the cake, I wanted to take a grapefruit. I just stuck my finger in the grapefruit, it was just ROT. The others didn’t look any better. So I drove to Albert Heijn.”

Lidl’s customer service has not yet responded to the complaints.
