In the north of Germany, the search continues for the autistic Arian Arnold (6), who disappeared on Monday evening. Emergency services used fireworks and balloons in the hope of finding a trace to the boy.

Arian disappeared on Monday evening at 7:30 PM in the city of Bremervörde, west of Hamburg. One minute he was playing at home, the next he was missing. A major search immediately started, in which more than 400 rescuers participated with sniffer dogs, drones and a boat with sonar.

Detectives meanwhile discovered that a surveillance camera near the boy’s parental home was recording images of him. They show him walking through the Elm district towards a forest and disappearing. He carries a stick that he plays with in the street.

Balloons

Yesterday, balloons were hung at seventeen locations in the area, in the hope that they will attract Arian’s attention. After all, the boy does not speak and does not respond when spoken to. However, this has not yielded any results so far. Last night the fire brigade also let off fireworks, because Arian loves the bangs and the colors. But there was no response to that either.

It was also yesterday that sources told the German newspaper ‘Bild’ that a footprint had been found on the bank of the nearby River Oste. It showed the ball of the foot and small toes. Arian was not wearing any shoes at the time of his disappearance, only socks. So the print could be his.

Water

More such footprints were found near the water in the past 24 hours. The search is currently continuing in those places, including with dogs and a helicopter.

The boy has now been missing for three days and nights. In recent days it has only been 8 degrees during the day in Bremervörde. At night it even cooled down to temperatures around freezing point. A spokesperson described the situation as “dramatic” as Arian was wearing only a sweater, sweatpants and socks when he disappeared.
