The emergency services in Ohfeldring, near Hamburg, Germany, have been searching for a 6-year-old boy for two days. Arian disappeared without a trace from his parental home, and it is feared that the boy with autism got lost in a swampy area.

Arian was last seen on Monday evening around 7:30 PM at his parental home in Ohfeldring, in the northern German state of Lower Saxony. The boy was playing at home, but disappeared from the house in an unclear manner. His parents reportedly raised the alarm after just three minutes.

The emergency services conducted a large-scale search operation for the boy with autism in the surrounding gardens and ponds, and later also in the wide area full of fields and forests. Despite the deployment of more than 400 emergency workers, helicopters, sniffer dogs and drones, the search yielded no results. The search operation is also complicated because Arian cannot express himself properly. “He is autistic, does not speak, and does not respond when spoken to,” police said.

First track?

Only on Wednesday morning was the first trace found: a footprint near a swampy area on a nearby river, although it is not yet entirely clear whether it belongs to Arian. That is why specialized divers and boats with sonar equipment are now being deployed to intensively search the water.

Time is also running out: the nights in the area were bitterly cold, and the boy was not wearing shoes at the time of his disappearance. The police are also asking local residents to assist in the search, especially by checking video images from surveillance cameras. “It seems entirely possible that the boy was captured by a surveillance camera on private property,” it said. The boy could also be in a shed or similar shelter, so local residents are also asked to search such buildings.
