“Krynky, the village that no longer exists,” photographers Kostiantyn and Vlada Liberovs write in the video. “A cruel and terrible hell. The weak cannot survive here. Endless bombs and drones. The fire doesn’t go out here for a minute. Every day the enemy storms the settlement in small groups, walking over the corpses of their fellow soldiers.”

The Ukrainian army retook Krynky from the Russians in the summer of 2023. The village served as a bridgehead on the occupied bank of the Dnieper, making it easier for the Ukrainians to cross the river. The painstakingly built bridgehead was one of the rare successes of the Ukrainian counter-offensive.

In February this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that Moscow had regained full control of Kynrky. Ukraine strongly denied this. According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russians are trying to expel Ukrainian soldiers from the area every day. The ongoing hostilities have turned Krynky into a veritable ghost village in recent months.

Earlier today, the Ukrainians managed to repel three Russian attacks on Krynky. The southern command of the Ukrainian army said this.
