According to the ‘BBC’, the horses were startled by the noise of works going on in the area. The animals galloped through the streets of the British capital, crashing into several vehicles. A bus was seriously damaged, as was a passenger car.

A horse was reportedly injured in both accidents. The driver of a silver-gray Mercedes told radio station ‘LBC’ that one of the horses crashed into the side of his car and cut itself on the glass of a broken window. There is indeed blood on the car. One of the horses was later filmed near Tower Bridge with blood on its neck, chest and legs.

Four injured

A total of four people were injured at three different locations in London. Pictures include an injured man lying on the ground in Fleet Street, between Covent Garden and The City. An army spokesman said three soldiers were among the injured. They are not in mortal danger.

A fourth soldier was thrown from his horse but was unharmed. According to the British public broadcaster ‘BBC’, the fourth injured person was a citizen who was cycling when the horses passed.

Captured

Fortunately, all escaped horses could be recaptured. It is currently unclear how seriously injured the animals are.

The Household Cavalry is one of the oldest parts of the British Army. The regiment often sees action at public events in London, such as the coronation of a king or queen. The horses and riders involved in this morning’s incident were practicing for the King’s birthday parade. They were conducting an exercise in the run-up to an inspection, which will take place tomorrow in Hyde Park.
