The Rollegemse LUX festival will be musical on May 10 with LUX Live on Friday evening and the child-friendly LUX Play on Saturday. Raymond van het Groenewoud and the Ketnetband are highlights.
Traditionally, the LUX festival in Rollegem takes place on the Friday and Saturday after Our Lord’s Ascension. For the 2024 edition, the LUX board renamed Saturday, May 11, LUX Play. “We emphasize even more that children can enjoy themselves that day in Rollegem,” says chairman of the non-profit organization LUX Bert Vanneste.
“With LUX Live on Friday, May 10 from 7 p.m. we are going for live performances. There is Kortrijk Drumt with 125 drummers, emerging talent Kimberly Penez, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Willy On Tour and closing track Discobar Galaxie.” (read more below the photo)
Cooking costs money and it was not possible to offer LUX Live for free. “For 22 euros you get seven hours of ambiance,” says music manager Peter Dekimpe. “In addition, some nice surprises await those present with Kortrijk Drumt and Kimberly Penez.”
Children
On Saturday, the organizers will focus on the children with LUX Play. “Every year we aim for different and better,” explain Johannes Vandenbogaerde and Jelle Janssens of the animation working group. “There are a number of nice craft corners, illustrator Bente Pompen will provide a workshop, Arte del nino will provide an opening spectacle at 2 p.m., and girls can try on princess dresses at Dream Dresses in the parish hall. There is a graffiti workshop, the Rollegemse Drumband provides an initiation into drumming and more. The highlight is the performance of the Ketnetband at 6 p.m. Children’s DJ Arjoentje closes the evening.”
The festival site is a closed site. There is a children’s bar, but also a regular bar and there are food trucks.
