More than a hundred schools in France have been threatened with attacks via the digital learning platform in recent weeks. Teachers, parents and students were in some cases also shown, to their horror, beheading videos. According to ‘BFMTV’, the police investigation is progressing well and two brothers have now been arrested in Malakoff, a suburb of Paris.
The two brothers, born in 2005 and 2007, were arrested this morning in connection with the hacking of the digital learning platform ENT and the resulting terrorist threats against secondary schools.
On Wednesday it became known that about twenty schools in Paris were threatened with attacks. “A message of vigilance has been sent to all heads of educational institutions, school directors and inspectors” and “a procedure has been set up to block accounts and report any incident,” the education district headquarters reported. The police responded, “sometimes with dog squads”, to investigate each case and “ensure the safety of the students and staff”.
Dozens of secondary schools in the south of France were also threatened with attacks during the night from Monday to Tuesday via the digital learning environment that connects teachers, students and parents. In recent days there have also been attack threats in the northern regions of Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France and Grand Est.
In total, more than a hundred schools were affected by the hacking. In the Île-de-France region, the hackers also launched a phishing campaign based on a fake site similar to that of the ENT to retrieve victims’ passwords.
