Once again, part of a Boeing aircraft has come loose en route. A slide that serves as an emergency exit fell off the plane during a Delta Airlines flight shortly after departure from New York.

The plane, which had just left for Los Angeles, made an emergency landing at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. There were 183 people on the plane. At the gate it was discovered that the emergency slide had come loose, an airline spokesperson said.

The missing part is still being searched for. Delta reports that the Boeing 767 is now being “thoroughly” investigated.

Under fire

Airplane manufacturer Boeing has been under fire for several months because parts of aircraft have become loose during several flights. At the beginning of this month, the pilot of a Boeing 737-800, an older version of the 737-Max, aborted take-off after noticing a fire in the left engine. Three weeks earlier, a Boeing of the same type landed in the US state of Oregon with a missing outer panel. And a few days earlier, a Boeing 777 had lost a wheel during takeoff. CEO Dave Calhoun announced his departure at the end of March, he will remain with the troubled company until the end of the year.
