Lembeek

KWB Lembeek is organizing its d’Achtermet family festival for the third time on Friday, May 10, with an afternoon and evening full of music in a friendly atmosphere. “We target young and old and deliberately keep it free.”

The d’Achtermet festival in Lembeek is gradually becoming a permanent fixture. “Like many good ideas, d’Achtermet was created between pot and pint,” says Erik Berghmans of KWB Lembeek. “We noticed that in Lembeek there is always plenty to do on the Claesplein – commonly called the Voormet -, but never on the Stevens-Dewaelplein behind the church, better known in Lembeek as the Achtermet. The café owner of our favorite café De Kring also thought this could change. This is how the idea of a family festival with music and a summer terrace in a friendly atmosphere grew.”

“The first ideas go back to 2019, but then corona came and everything disappeared again for a while in the refrigerator. But in 2022 there was no stopping it,” says Erik Berghmans. “We welcomed around 500 people to the first edition. At the second edition last year there were already 750. We are curious to see where we will end up this year, although the weather obviously plays a major role. In case of bad weather we will certainly provide a cover.”

Soft pop and ambiance music

D’Achtermet stands for soft pop and ambiance music. KWB will kick off at 3 p.m. with a performance by Rune, who participated in The Voice in 2019. This will be followed by the Halse mop orchestra d’Hopmaten and Aïssa. The Mighty Mustaches will take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by The Mates and Pussy Willow. DJs Squirre and Aquaholic close d’Achtermet. You can continuously enjoy a summer terrace, a lounge area, snacks and drinks on Stevens-Dewaelplein.

“We deliberately keep admission free because KWB is a family association,” says Erik Berghmans. “It is certainly the intention to continue organizing d’Achtermet during the Ascension weekend. We want to bring people together. Now that Lembeek Beach has thrown in the towel, we are the only remaining festival in Lembeek.”
