Max Verstappen accidentally caused laughter in the press room on Sunday after the Miami Grand Prix. The Dutchman, who is now used to taking the race winner’s positions, accidentally took Lando Norris’ place.
Verstappen started the Miami Grand Prix from pole position and after narrowly avoiding teammate Pérez at the start, it looked like the Dutchman could be on his way to his fifth victory of the season. However, things turned out a bit differently, because after a safety car situation due to a crash by Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen, the three-time world champion suddenly ended up behind Norris. The McLaren driver was very fast on the Miami circuit and drove undisturbed towards his first Formula 1 victory ever.

Norris’s spot
After the race, the three-time world champion announced that he would definitely give it to Norris, with whom the Dutchman has a good relationship. “In the end, of course, you saw it coming that he would win a race at some point. If someone has to beat me, I’ll give it to Lando,” Verstappen said afterwards. A little later, however, the Red Bull driver seemed to have forgotten in the press room that he was once present in the room without being the winner of the Grand Prix. Verstappen took a seat in the middle seat, the place where the winner should sit. However, he soon realized that that place was reserved for Norris: “Sorry, guests!”, he apologized.
