vote against Boeing CEO reward of $33 million

ARLINGTON (ANP/BLOOMBERG) – Shareholders of the troubled American aircraft manufacturer Boeing are urgently advised to vote against a salary package of 32.8 million dollars (31 million euros) for CEO David Calhoun. This is reported by the consultancy firm Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), which advises pension funds and insurers, among others.

The advisor is particularly concerned about a special stock award and a “significant increase” in Calhoun’s long-term bonus. His compensation will increase by a total of 45 percent this year. Shareholders can vote on whether they agree to this at Boeing’s annual meeting on May 17.

Calhoun announced in March that he will step down at the end of 2024. Boeing has long been under fire for a series of safety issues that have raised concerns among regulators, consumers and investors. Last month, an emergency slide fell shortly after an aircraft took off, the umpteenth defect in a long series at the manufacturer. Earlier this year, a door panel on a Boeing 737 MAX 9 came loose during a flight. In early March, a United Airlines Boeing 777 lost a landing gear wheel shortly after departure from San Francisco.
