The current price of a gas cylinder for household use is 40 dirhams, while the actual cost is 120 dirhams. The government subsidizes the remaining 80 dirhams. This measure is part of the government’s strategy to abolish subsidies and at the same time reduce social inequality. The additional revenue will be used for direct subsidies to poor citizens and the expansion of health insurance.
