Seven architectural firms may participate in the Next Step Program 2024. The jury selected them from thirty firms that had registered, the BNA reports. The winner of the Next Step Award will be chosen from the seven agencies later this year.

The Next Step Program is intended to help young architects who have already completed a project to take a step further in their career. Participants are challenged to not only excel in design, but to develop their business skills. The jury selected seven agencies based on the projects submitted, the information provided by the participants and the creative entrepreneurship shown.

The selected agencies and their submitted project are:
– Boeijenjong Architects – NYMA water basin, Nijmegen
– Buurma Dugar Architects – Pavilion Buurttuin Zoete Aarde, Zoetermeer
– Groothuijse de Boer architects – House in the Dunes, Terschelling
– Keizer Koopmans – Holiday home in Tamariu (Spain)
– Studio Pallesh – Oostenburg Block 16 – De Prins, Amsterdam
– Studio BLAD – Bostorens Bosrijk, Eindhoven
– Studiospacious – Characteristic neighborhood feeling, Noord-Scharwoude

“The selection of participants and projects is broad and diverse, ranging from social and cultural projects to landscape projects and innovative projects in the field of material use,” reports the BNA. “The participants’ projects contribute in various ways to the spatial environment and to current urgent themes such as regeneration, densification and social added value. Their vision convincingly shows what good architecture can mean in a broad sense. Through this vision, the participants contribute to innovative and inspiring entrepreneurship.”

The Next Step Program is organized by the BNA and developer Synchroon. In the coming months, the selected agencies will complete a program together, after which the jury will appoint the winner of the Next Step Award. The winner receives a cash prize of 10,000 euros and has a chance to win an assignment from Synchroon.

The jury for the fifth edition of the Next Step Program consists of Oana Bogdan. Anne Schroën (BNA) and Tobias Verhoeven (Synchroon) are also involved as initiators, but have no voting rights.
