All victims of the accident with a police van last Saturday have been allowed to leave the hospital. The public prosecutor’s office is now conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the serious crash, in which twelve trainees from the Brussels police were involved.
The accident happened on Saturday near the intersection of Jules De Troozplein and Koninginnelaan in Brussels. A car with two occupants and a Brussels police minibus collided, leaving sixteen people injured. In addition to the two occupants of the car, there were two inspectors from the Brussels police and twelve future officers, who were taking a ride as part of a discovery day at the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police zone.

“No one was in critical condition or in danger of death,” says Yasmina Vanoverschelde of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. “The people from the passenger car were taken to hospital for treatment. The officers in the minivan were taken for treatment with minor injuries. In the meantime, everyone has been allowed to leave the hospital.”
Camera images
The Brussels public prosecutor’s office is investigating the circumstances of the accident and will, among other things, analyze the camera images that were seized. “At the moment it is not clear what happened,” says Vanoverschelde. “The investigation is in full swing. But as long as the analysis and other investigative actions have not been completed, no conclusions can be drawn.”
