PSV does not seem to have to fear an early departure of . The Eindhoven team took over the attacker from Club Brugge last summer and he needed little time to win the hearts of his new supporters. However, several injuries threw a spanner in the works for PSV and Lang. But, ‘a blessing in disguise’ for the current leader of the Netherlands: in all likelihood, a summer transfer will not have to be taken into account.

PSV paid at least 12.5 million euros for Lang last summer and the former Ajax player was keen to also play in the Eredivisie. He immediately won a prize for his new club in the first official match of the season – the Johan Cruijff Shield against Feyenoord – and also got off to a good start in the Eredivisie. However, Lang already struggled with his fitness in the first half of the season and this did not improve after the winter break. A hamstring injury has kept him out for a few weeks now and it is currently questionable whether he will make any minutes at all this season.

That cannot yet be ruled out. Peter Bosz may still have Lang available in one of those matches, based on the forecasts that are now knownwrites PSV watcher Rik Elfrink Eindhovens Dagblad Thursday evening. He is the only remaining injured player at PSV, which can make quite a few choices even in attack. For example, Ricardo Pepi, Hirving Lozano, Johan Bakayoko, Malik Tillman Luuk de Jong and Richard Ledezma are available for those positions. The first four players returned from the international break.

And Lang may very well be added in the final phase of the season. The attacker is expected to be available for Bosz next season anyway. Fortunately for PSV, Lang already seems to have his sights set on revenge in the coming season. At PSV, that iswrites Elfrink. At the beginning of the season, the attacker made a few impressive appearances and there were fears that his stay might only last a year, but Lang’s injuries have made the threat of a quick transfer fade into the background.

Andy van der Meijde

Due to injuries, Lang has only played nineteen times for PSV this season. He scored five times and provided one assist. Andy van der Meijde suggested at the beginning of last month that Lang will not play at all this season. However, Elfrink soon qualified that reporting. For example, PSV will play three more matches in May, on May 5, 12 and 19. If he is match fit again, Lang can probably also make the jump to the European Championship and national coach Ronald Koeman will still have access to the 24-year-old attacker. To date, Lang has worn the shirt of the Dutch national team ten times.
