A 53-year-old man convicted of attempted murder has been found guilty of murder by a judge in London after his victim died after thirteen years. Trevor Baker himself had pleaded guilty, police reported. His sentence will be determined later.

Baker attacked Carolyn Kemp because he couldn’t accept the break-up of the relationship. The then 34-year-old woman was paralyzed in her arms and legs as a result of the attack in November 2009 and suffered permanent brain damage. She died on September 27, 2022 from pneumonia, which doctors say she would have survived if she had not been so seriously injured.

Baker was initially sentenced to sixteen years in prison for attempted murder. He will be told on May 16 what punishment he will now receive. According to the BBC, Baker has been warned by the judge that the crime carries a life sentence.
