Sony is rolling out a new PlayStation 5 system update that includes a handy community guide feature

--

Sony has started rolling out system update 24.03-09.20.00 for the PlayStation 5. The update has a download size of 1.GB, which is several MB smaller than the previous update from late March. The update does not seem to be mandatory for the time being to be available on the PlayStation Network.

The update comes with the usual improvements in system stability and performance. Furthermore, the Remote Play connection status has been adjusted so that gamers can also hide the notification. The messaging system has been further improved and made more accessible.

The biggest new addition is a community guide feature. In the game help menu you can now also see images of other players. You can then watch gameplay videos recorded by other players and try to imitate them. For example, think of a challenging boss fight in Elden Ring where you got stuck. With game help, you can watch how other players defeated the boss and learn from other players’ gameplay. Players can choose whether or not to share images for Game Help. By switching Auto Captures on or off, you can decide whether or not to share images with the PlayStation community.

These are the full patch notes of PlayStation 5 update 24.03-09.20.00:

  • Game Help has been expanded by adding Community Game Help features.
    • In Game Help, you will see hints labeled Community Game Help in supported games, which indicates that the hint was generated from other players’ gameplay videos.
    • You can participate in Community Game Help by allowing your gameplay video to be automatically captured and added to the feature upon review.
To opt in, go to Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Captures > Auto Captures > Community Game Helpand then select Participate. You can also opt out at any time.
  • In Remote Play, if the persistent message “Remote Play connected.” is displayed during Remote Play, you can now hide this on your game screen. Go to Settings > System > Remote Play and turn on Hide Remote Play Connection Status.
  • We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
  • We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
