KRC Genk is no longer competing for the title, but it does have a very clearly different goal. The Limburgers will now do everything they can to obtain a European ticket.

Racing Genk started the play-offs very well with a nice 10 out of 12. However, many disappointments followed in a row afterwards. Genk has now lost three games in a row with heavy numbers.

Winger Zakaria El Ouahdi reflected on the home match against Club Brugge on TV Limburg. “In Genk, against Club Brugge, we were really great in the first half. I think Club did not achieve our goal. They get one chance, miscommunication and then the goal follows. Afterwards the heads went down.”

Wouter Vrancken recently said that it is “in the heads” of his players. “Mentally we are very strong as a team, whether we win or lose. But we just have to forget about those things to focus on the next matches,” El Ouahdi continues.

The goal is now clear: aim for fourth place in order to still play European football next season. El Oauhdi believes that his team will achieve that.

“We were actually able to win the title, we competed but it didn’t work out. Anyway, now we’re trying to get a European ticket. That would be very good. I am convinced that we will still achieve that,” he concludes. .
