Fredberg wants to achieve a remarkable top transfer at Anderlecht due to the interest in Daniel Peretz from Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old Israeli goalkeeper, known for his cat-like reflexes and as a penalty specialist, has received little playing time at the German club so far.

Anderlecht would like to hire Peretz to give him more experience, while also developing their own young goalkeepers. Peretz has even been referred to as Israel’s Manuel Neuer because of his talent, athleticism and footballing ability.

Schmeichel out? Anderlecht looking for a new number one

Kasper Schmeichel’s choice to join Anderlecht last summer was aimed at retaining his number one position for the European Championship with Denmark.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper brings invaluable personality, leadership and bravado to the Sporting squad. Despite his crucial role and impact on the team, Schmeichel only earns a modest salary of 250,000 euros per year, making him one of the least paid players in the dressing room.

With his contract expiring at the end of June, Schmeichel’s future at Anderlecht remains uncertain. While there is an option to extend his deal, sources such as suggest La Dernière Heure and The newspapaer that it is very realistic that the goalkeeper will continue his career elsewhere.

The decision will largely depend on which clubs present themselves after the European Championship.

Anderlecht is already responding proactively due to the renewed interest in Rome’s Jayden Owusu-Oduro (AZ Alkmaar). Interestingly enough, Daniel Peretz is now also in the picture for RSCA.

The 23-year-old Israeli, who is playing for Bayern Munich this season, was acquired from Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer for 5 million euros.

Daniel Peretz (Bayern Munich) looking for playing minutes

Daniel Peretz has so far struggled to assert himself at the German superpower. Since his arrival he has only played once, in a cup match against third division club Preussen Münster.

He currently sits third in the pecking order behind Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich. A temporary move to Anderlecht might be a welcome opportunity for Peretz to gain more playing time and experience.

Anderlecht seems to be seriously interested and has reportedly already sat at the table with Bayern several times. Negotiations are reportedly still ongoing, with the aim being a lease agreement without a purchase option.

Renting the talented goalkeeper could be a smart move for Anderlecht. It allows them to give Peretz a chance to show his potential, while at the same time developing Mads Kikkenborg and/or Timon Vanhoutte as future primary goalkeepers.

With a temporary transition, Anderlecht could give themselves some breathing space and take the time to determine the best strategy for their goalkeeper position.

Anderlecht already wanted Peretz last summer: “Moukoukou gave him nightmares”

Last year, Bayern Munich faced a major challenge after Manuel Neuer broke his leg while skiing, forcing them to look for a new goalkeeper.

In their search, they promoted Sven Ulreich to first goalkeeper and signed Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Haifa for a fee of 5 million euros, despite interest from clubs such as … Anderlecht.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern’s CEO, praised Peretz’s transfer, stating: “With Daniel Peretz we are very well equipped in our goal defense team in terms of prospects – both for this season and for the future.”

“Daniel is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential. In his younger years he has already proven his skills not only at national level but also in international competitions.”

Although Peretz may not have been a big name, he had already made an impression in Germany. His performance at the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where he saved two penalties and was awarded Man of the Match, made him a household name on the international football circuit.

His exploits gave players like Youssoufa Moukoko and Jessic Ngankam nightmares.

Peretz only number four at Bayern next season?

Bayern couldn’t wait to bring Daniel Peretz to Munich last summer. According to The Athletic, they even sent a private jet – something unusual in Israeli football – to fly him, his family and his girlfriend to the Bavarian capital.

Negotiations between the clubs were somewhat tense, especially over compensation.

There had been a lot of wrangling in the days before, with Peretz even proposing to give up part of his already ‘modest’ bonus-based salary, which started at €1.5 million per year, in order to reach an agreement .

Ultimately, Bayern and Maccabi agreed on an amount of €5 million.

For the time being, Peretz remains stuck in the position of third goalkeeper, and Alexander Nübel should not be forgotten, despite his current loan to Stuttgart after extending his contract with Bayern Munich.

Peretz is open to a loan move, but Bayern are reluctant to grant a purchase option as they still believe in the Israeli goalkeeper’s potential.

Daniel Peretz: Israel’s Manuel Neuer

Daniel Peretz is known as a shot-stopper and penalty specialist, and is praised for his cat-like reflexes. In addition, he is described as a modern, athletic goalkeeper with excellent skills in the field and passing.

Almog Cohen, former Nuremberg and Ingolstadt footballer, has even described Peretz as the “Manuel Neuer 2.0” and the “Israeli Neuer”. “He is a really great talent with a good overall package of reflexes and control of the penalty area,” Cohen explained to Image.

“I’ve been following him for 3-4 years – that’s when he made another big development. Daniel has a real worker’s mentality, always wants to continue developing – for example by working in the weight room, even though he already has a good body.”
