Much ink has been spilled about Antwerp’s financial situation in recent months. To keep their heads above water, stock number one will certainly have to cash in on a few goldcrests next summer. A number of candidates qualify for this.

Just think of Mandela Keita, who is reportedly attracting a lot of interest. In addition, Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Jean Butez should also set the cash register ringing. Although most eyes on the Tawny Owl are mainly focused on George Ilenikhena, who, according to CEO Sven Jaecques, will soon be almost unsustainable.

Ilenikhena to Inter?

The 17-year-old Frenchman, for whom the Great Old had already auctioned no less than six million last summer, completely lived up to expectations in Deurne-Noord. With 14 goals in 46 appearances, Ilenikhena immediately justified his sky-high price tag. Achievements that have of course not gone unnoticed elsewhere.

There are already a lot of rumors surrounding the accurate teenager. For example, he was now explicitly linked to Inter by Italian media. That rumor has now been confirmed by La Gazzetta dello Sport. The leading newspaper immediately comes up with more details about the conditions for a possible deal.

Antwerp offers a discount

Reportedly, 20 million would be enough to remove Ilenikhena from the Bosuil, where he will remain until mid-2027. A hefty sum, because today his market value is ‘only’ estimated at half that amount. Yet Antwerp seemed to be aiming for an even higher transfer fee for the talented left-footer.

Finally, a price tag was recently reported to exceed 30 million. Just like with Arthur Vermeeren, for whom Antwerp also wanted to capture more than the 18 million that Atlético Madrid ultimately transferred, expectations seem to have to be adjusted somewhat.
