In the Netherlands, PSV have been crowned national champions after a fantastic season. Winning the title was also extensively celebrated in Eindhoven on Monday. And during those festivities, it was hardly surprising that Noa Lang played a leading role.

After excelling for several seasons at Club Brugge, the Dutch winger felt that it was urgently time for a new step in his career last summer. However, Lang opted for a surprising move. He returned to the Netherlands and signed a multi-year contract with PSV.

Initially that seemed like a good choice. The 24-year-old was immediately given a starting place in coach Peter Bosz’s team and was good for a handful of goals and assists in the first competition matches. Meanwhile, his team’s results were also downright impressive.

Injured mood maker

But in the autumn disaster struck. Lang suffered a hamstring injury and was sidelined for weeks. He finally made his comeback in January. However, after a few games his injury relapsed. And the much-discussed international has not played since.

On a sporting level, his share in the title is therefore limited. But behind the scenes he played an important role within the team atmosphere. And he was also omnipresent at the title celebration. For example, he sang along loudly to his own song ‘7K At your party’ and promised the fans the title of next season.

Shit cockroaches

For a moment, Lang threatened to cross the line. For example, he urged supporters to chant ‘they’re just f*cking cockroaches’. That is a well-known song to insult competitor Feyenoord. In 2010 it was also sung by a then very young Jan Vertonghen at Ajax’s title celebration. It cost the Red Devil a few matches suspension. However, Lang will not get to that point. Captain Luuk de Jong was able to intervene just in time and steal the microphone from him…
