KRC Genk went head-to-head against Cercle Brugge on Saturday. With a goal and an assist, Félix Lemaréchal turned out to be the standout player for the Association. And this after it emerged that he is on the wish list of the Limburgers.

Two weeks after transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri launched that rumor, the news is also confirmed by The Importance of Limburg. It is said that the 20-year-old Frenchman is indeed one of the options to replace Bilal El Khannouss.

El Khannouss out, Lemaréchal in?

Since he will almost certainly secure a lucrative top transfer soon, Dimitri de Condé is already eagerly looking for a new playmaker to fill that void. Genk would therefore have an eye on Lemaréchal.

He still has the same areas of improvement as El Khannouss, because his statistics also leave something to be desired for the time being. The loanee from AS Monaco only scored his first goal of the season against Genk. He now has five assists.

Genk or Monaco?

Afterwards, Lemaréchal refused to respond to the alleged interest from the Cegeka Arena, where he was even high on the wish list as one of the main venues. The former youth international hopes to break through, especially in Monaco.

“But if I don’t get a chance, we’ll see what happens,” he says The newspapaer. Even an extended stay in Jan Breydel would not be ruled out, although that chance is considered small. Lemaréchal is part of the Monegasques until mid-2027.
