Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco has spoken his mind about Charles De Ketelaere joining AC Milan, resulting in a very disappointing season.

During an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), he explained that the player must have known what to expect when he signed for a club like Milan. When asked if he is surprised at how well De Ketelaere has done since being loaned to Atalanta, Tedesco gave a surprising answer.

“Yes and no. I know well what Charles has to offer. He came from a difficult season where he didn’t play and never found consistency. San Siro is a fantastic stadium, but a big challenge for a new player. If you sign for a club of a certain level, you know what you are getting into.”

After such a good season on loan, De Ketelaere is expected to stay at Atalanta permanently, allowing Milan to recoup most of the money they spent on the Belgian. Tedesco is one of several names to have been linked with the Milan role in recent weeks, as Stefano Pioli could soon be replaced.
