Lommel to the Promotion Play-offs final, Zulte Waregem also in Challenger Pro League next season

At Zulte Waregem, Brüls took the kick-off, at Lommel, coach Bould retained confidence in the eleven that played the first leg (1-1). The match was dominated by the home team from the start, Zulte Waregem kept a lot of people behind the ball and did not want to concede a goal.

Lommel was able to convert the dominance into several smaller opportunities, Diego Rosa fired on goalkeeper De Wolf several times and Schoofs missed a free shooting opportunity. All in all, Zulte Waregem held up quite easily.

It was Essevee that could have gone to rest with a lead because at the end of the first half Jelle Vossen had several excellent opportunities to give his team the lead. His breakaway shot was blocked and shortly afterwards he hit the post.

Just like in the first half, Lommel also took the initiative at the start of the second half, but it was the visitors who caused the first real danger. Jelle Vossen scored, but he was served by Ndour and he was offside.

The game went back and forth and the tension increased. Zulte Waregem came up dangerously on several occasions, but it was the green shirts who scored with just under fifteen minutes left on the clock. Diego Costa painted the corner onto the head of Schoofs who headed into the far corner (1-0). A final offensive by Zulte Waregem no longer really materialized.

The season is over for Zulte Waregem, they have been sentenced to an extra season in the Challenger Pro League. Lommel can now prepare for the double confrontation with Deinze, starting on Sunday in their own Sovereign Stadium.
