Marianne Vos won the third stage in the Vuelta Espana Femenina last Tuesday. The Dutch rider from Visma-Lease a Bike, who crashed in the final on Monday, was extremely enthusiastic afterwards.

On Monday she saw her first chance to win a stage when her fingers slipped due to a crash in the final, but on Tuesday it was a prize for Vos. The Dutch woman defeated compatriot Charlotte Kool and Canadian Olivia Baril in Teruel. It was striking that Visma-Lease a Bike dictated the pace of the peloton for almost the entire stage.

All inclusive

“We were in the lead all day yesterday, but then had bad luck in the final. Today we went again all in. The girls rode really well. It’s nice to end it then. I am very happy with this victory,” Vos explained in a flash interview.

On paper, Tuesday’s stage was not particularly exciting, but the weather gods again caused a few crashes. “Especially in the beginning with the wet roads. It was very slippery and slippery and we saw many falls,” said Vos about the chaotic initial phase. “Then you hope that everyone will get through it okay.”

“But I didn’t see what happened. We were trying to put ourselves in a good position. They say it’s part of the race, falling, but it’s never fun to see.”

Sprinters

Today it is the sprinters’ turn in the Tour of Spain. The peloton rides from Molina de Aragon to Zaragozo, a distance of about 142 kilometers with barely 894 meters of elevation to cover. The ride is already constantly descending, ideal for a fast finale.
