Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) won the sprint race for the Spanish Grand Prix, the 4th round of the MotoGP world championship, in his own country on Saturday. At the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, the World Cup leader left his compatriot Pedro Acosta (GasGas-Tech3) and the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo behind.

Rain and a treacherous wind caused many falls. Among others, the Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati-Lenovo), second in the championship before the start, and world champion Francesco Bagnaia, a compatriot and teammate of Bastianini, did not reach the finish.

The same happened to South African Brad Binder (KTM) and Spaniards Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) and Maverick Vinales (Aprilia).

Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati-Gresini), who started on pole, also crashed, but climbed back on the bike and finished 7th. The victory went to Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), Pedro Acosta (GasGas-Tech3) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).

n the World Cup standings, Martin now has 29 points ahead of Acosta. Bastianini dropped to third place, on 33 points.
