26-year-old Amandine Bourgueil opened her cheese shop La Câlinerie in Lakenselaan on December 1 last year. But at the end of April it closed its doors after several incidents. In just seven days she had been robbed, attacked twice in the store and had her home broken into, she then told of her “nightmare week”.

The store will open again on Saturday, she now announces on Facebook. “We took a few days to make adjustments, strengthen our security and regain our strength,” she wrote. “Thank you for your patience and support during this time. Your messages have been a source of comfort.”

Known to the police

“I don’t want to let myself be done. We have to keep fighting,” Bourgueil says BX1.

After the news about the closure, the owner met with the police. After viewing the camera images, it turned out to be people known to the police. “The case was reopened,” she says, “and the perpetrators were summoned.”

In addition, a report is drawn up for intimidation for smaller incidents.

According to the owner, the Jetse alderman from Handel also visited, who wanted to train shopkeepers after an increase in the number of thefts. But she hasn’t heard anything about it since. “Scandalous,” it sounds.
