The sporting management of Club Brugge is currently looking for a new head coach for the first team. But they will also have to find a T1 for the women’s team. For example, the dismissal of Heleen Jacques was communicated on Thursday evening.

The full-fledged women’s team of Club Brugge was created after a collaboration with KSV Jabbeke. In 2011, the women also started playing under the same registration number as the men’s team. But for a long time this was by no means an absolute priority within the general operation.

That changed a few years ago. In 2020, Blauw-Zwart announced a complete rebranding. From then on, the women’s team went through life as ‘Club YLA’. This name change was also accompanied by further professionalization.

Too little sporting return

For example, Club YLA was the first Belgian team to collaborate with a menstruation coach and even more resources were deployed to make this a success story as well. With Guilian Preud’homme, the women’s department also had its own CEO.

However, this did not yield much sporting success for the time being. In recent seasons, Club YLA has always been in the shadow of Anderlecht and OH Leuven, among others. Although the cup final was reached this season, the regular competition ended in fourth place.

Defeat with serious consequences

And during the opening day of the Play-Offs they also lost heavily to Anderlecht, which means that a possible title already seems to be flying. In any case, the defeat against the Purple & White is not without consequences. Club announced on Thursday that the collaboration with Heleen Jacques was terminated by mutual agreement. The former Red Flame and former Blauw-Zwart player had only been working as head coach since the beginning of this season. Her T2 David Antunes Pereira will complete the remainder of the campaign.
