The regular season is over and the play-offs will begin. KAA Gent will kick off the Europe Play-offs against Standard tomorrow.

KAA Gent did not reach the Champions’ Play-offs because KRC Genk took a point on the field of KVC Westerlo. There was a lot of discussion about this afterwards.

You will undoubtedly have seen or read that no more football was played in the last five minutes of the Westerlo-Genk match. The comments from the KAA Gent camp were not pleasant.

Hein Vanhaezebrouck was not satisfied afterwards and made that clear. He even suggested that Rik De Mil’s past might have something to do with it. In the meantime, De Mil has been fired at Westerlo because of those last five minutes.

Assistant coach Danijel Milicevic was also not happy with how that match went. “Enough ink has already been spilled,” he begins, according to the club website. “It was certainly not propaganda for football and I can’t imagine that I would have done it as a player myself.”

He also warns the Gamecocks again. “We will meet Westerlo twice more, rest assured that our players will be motivated.”
