Lotte Kopecky sees teammate leave: Tour winner Demi Vollering leaves SD Worx-Protime at the end of the season

A striking turn in women’s cycling. Demi Vollering, teammate of Lotte Kopecky, will leave SD Worx-Protime at the end of the season. Sports director Danny Stam confirmed this GCN. The Dutch Tour winner has reached the end of her contract and can count on a lot of interest from other teams.

The news follows barely a month after Lotte Kopecky’s contract extension until 2028. “We have done our best to keep the team, but unfortunately that is not an option for Demi,” Danny Stam told GCN. The SD Worx-Protime sports director confirmed that he and the Dutch rider had sat down in recent weeks to finalize their farewell.

“It’s about the budget. You have to make a choice. I think it is clear that we cannot have two riders of that level in our team,” Stam added.

It is not yet known what the new destination of Vollering will be. Team boss Erwin Janssen provided some additional explanation on the team’s website. “We made Demi a generous offer and indicated that we had to respond to this before a certain date. However, Vollering’s management has not responded to this. We therefore assume that Vollering will leave the team at the end of the year. The rumors that we recently spoke to Demi or her management are untrue.”
