These are busy days for the new sporting management of Club Brugge. After all, the search is currently underway for a new head coach for next season. In the meantime, the coming summer mercato is undoubtedly being prepared.

Blauw-Zwart faces a crossroads after the season. After years of loyal service, CEO Vincent Mannaert, who also took over the sporting leadership, is finally saying goodbye. This task package will be divided among three people.

Club is currently looking for a ‘Technical Director’, who will take care of the first team. Maarten Dedobbeleer, as ‘Sports Director’, will deal with the more practical side. The transfer policy is largely in the hands of ‘Director of Football’, Dévy Rigaux.

Turbulent summer mercato

The latter is therefore going to have some busy months ahead. Because as soon as the new T1 has been secured, the people of Bruges will have to start with their transfer plans. After all, extra reinforcement is welcome. In addition, certain strong players are in danger of leaving and need to be replaced.

And more cases will be brought to the table. Normally six mercenaries return. For boys like Kamal Sowah (Standard), Roman Yaremchuk (Valencia) and Faitout Maouassa (Granda), a permanent solution will probably be sought elsewhere.

Three youth products

But youth products Romeo Vermant (KVC Westerlo), Cisse Sandra (Excelsior Rotterdam) and Lynnt Audoor (KV Kortrijk) also normally return to their parent club. A decision will then have to be made about their future in consultation with the new trainer. Vermant has done more than decently with 2 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches so far on behalf of Westerlo. Can he compete for the striker position after the departure of Igor Thiago?

Sandra, in turn, was usually in the starting line-up at Excelsior. It will be interesting to see how he has developed in the Netherlands during the preparation. Only Audoor could not convince, partly due to injuries. For him, a new opportunity at Club seems unlikely for the time being, although a lot can still happen in the coming months.
