The Football Association announced earlier this week that Romelu Lukaku will not be present against Ireland. And another big name would be absent.
No Romelu Lukaku against Ireland, but possibly against England. The football association already released that news earlier this week. But another strongman would get some rest in the first of the Red Devils’ two practice matches.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, which speaks of an unofficially confirmed report, Jan Vertonghen would be rested against Ireland. A stroke of luck for national coach Domenico Tedesco is that Arthur Theate is available, even though he was injured last weekend.
Arthur Theate is ready to play
Theate himself indicated that he is available. If Vertonghen does not play, Theate can play centrally in defense. And if he takes that spot, the spot on the left can be taken by Olivier Deman.
In recent weeks, Deman has once again developed into a regular starter at Werder Bremen and the national coach has of course seen that. Tedesco has also always been very complimentary about Theate.
