At Anderlecht they had time to watch Club before their own match. Mats Rits sat in front of the TV to watch his former team and major competitor for the title at work. He saw them take 19 out of 21. The topper (and classic) in Lotte Park is scheduled for next week.
Anderlecht seems to have improved their form just in time. Against Union they did not play with long balls, but over the ground. Combining it works a lot better than with all those rockets forward.
“It is – I think – a correct result,” analyzed Mats Rits. “We played a good match, especially in the first half. Maybe we deserved more given the chances, but one point is a good result.”
“Of course we remain optimistic. There are three more matches and the next two are at our home. That Club Brugge is now first. (shrugs) Whoever is first now… you don’t win anything with that. Club has a very good series, but we remain confident in the title.”
Although Anderlecht will have to take their chances. “In top matches you have to seize your moments and we didn’t do that. Otherwise we would have been one-two goals ahead after the first half and it would have been a completely different match.”
Club’s performance doesn’t really scare Rits either. “Yes, I watched their match. That’s what I mean by taking your moments. They are in the flow and if things go well, things really go well. They could have also conceded a second penalty and they scored that first goal. with luck. We just have to interrupt that flow.”
