After months of uncertainty about Western strategy in Ukraine, the British chief of staff has expressed optimism about the chances of the Ukrainian army. Admiral Tony Radakin said the new military aid and the long-range missiles will help Kiev rethink its “difficult” fight against Moscow. Ukraine will intensify attacks deep into Russia, the British chief of staff said in an interview with the ‘Financial Times’.

According to Radakin, the current gloomy mood about Ukrainian defense is a snapshot of the war that does not take into account new developments that benefit Kiev. They “will enable Ukraine to shape the struggle in a much stronger way than before.”

Then the British chief of staff talks about the new military aid packages from the US and Europe, Ukraine’s increasingly successful long-range attacks and Moscow’s “total failure” to cut off Kiev’s vital grain exports via the Black Sea.

“The danger of any snapshot is that it ignores where we are now and where we will be in the coming years,” Radakin explained to the Financial Times.

LOOK. US House of Representatives approves billions in aid to Ukraine

The United States sent long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine earlier this month, even before the US Congress approved a new aid package for Kiev.

Ukraine used ATACMS missiles against Russia for the first time in October, but the recently dispatched missiles have a longer range, up to three hundred kilometers. According to Pentagon sources, Ukraine first deployed these missiles on April 17 against a Russian air base in Crimea. This week they were also said to have been deployed in an attack on a Russian military base in southern Ukraine. In principle, these long-range missiles may only be “for use within the sovereign territory of Ukraine,” Joe Biden and his team stipulated.

Radakin, on the other hand, expressed no objections to Ukrainian attacks and sabotage attacks within Russia. “As Ukraine gains more long-range attack capabilities … it will also conduct more operations deep inside Russia. And they will certainly have an effect.”

This week, the British announced that they will deliver even more Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, with approximately the same range as the American ATACMS missiles.
