After a successful investigation report, a suspect has been arrested for the rape of a 69-year-old woman during a home invasion in Sint-Niklaas. It concerns “a 28-year-old man from Somalia”, according to the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office.
The facts took place on Sunday, March 3. An unknown man rang the victim’s doorbell. As soon as she opened the door, the man pushed her inside. After a while, the man left the house, leaving the victim injured. He stole some cash and the woman’s mobile phone and then fled in the direction of the station, where several cameras were able to capture him during his ride to Antwerp.
Have difficulty walking
“Following the investigation report that Farouk spread the facts, some useful tips were received,” reports the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office. “On this basis, a suspect, a 28-year-old man from Somalia, could be identified and arrested.”
The man will be brought before the investigating judge in Dendermonde on Wednesday. The health of the victim, who already had difficulty walking, has deteriorated sharply since the facts.
