Victim died in hospital after speed pedelec accident: “Ann was a sweetheart of a lady” (Domestic)

59-year-old Ann from Grimbergen did not survive an accident with her speed pedelec in Zaventem. She died in hospital on Saturday. The relatives are inconsolable. In the many condolences, Ann is described as ‘an incredibly warm, happy and optimistic woman’.

The accident happened last Thursday, April 11, around 5:25 p.m. in Zaventem. Ann came from Kerkstraat and drove her speed pedelec into the side of a vehicle driving on Kleine Daalstraat. She was catapulted and fell heavily. The victim was treated for a long time at the scene and was eventually taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. Ann had been in a coma since then. She died on Saturday.

The family is in deep mourning. Ann, who was active as a career coach, is survived by her husband and two children. They are currently inundated with expressions of condolence, which nevertheless mean a lot of encouragement.

For example, Ann is described by a former colleague as ‘the most human’ colleague he worked with. “Her willingness to listen, together with her humanity and kindness, made her part of that small group of people who are the same at work as they are in their private lives. She was passionate about helping people grow in their jobs, completely in line with her own image, who also always wanted to grow by becoming a career coach.”

Disaster

“I’m really not feeling well about it,” says someone who also knew Ann well from the jogging club. “This is a disaster for the family. Ann was a sweetheart of a lady. She was always very happy. A warm and optimistic person who will be greatly missed.”

The funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, April 26 at 11:30 am in the St. Servatius Basilica in Grimbergen.
