Show bits“As a child I always dreamed of doing something in the catering industry, now that dream is becoming reality.” Metejoor (33) is clearly delighted during the opening of the new vegan pizzeria Plant A Pizza in Antwerp. Joris does not put on his baker’s apron himself, but supports the catering project of one of his band members: “Our goal is not only to attract vegans, but also to introduce real Burgundians like me to plant-based food.” We were exclusively present during the opening.
Anyone who follows Metejoor on Instagram had already known for some time that he was working on an exciting project. Images of the new pizza restaurant regularly surfaced, but it was not clear why he advertised so much. Until now. “It was my percussionist – with whom I have been sharing the stage for 6 years – who asked me if I wanted to invest in a new Plant A Pizza location. Together with partners Nicolas Michel and Peter Schneider and chef Victor Ramos, he has already built a successful business in Ghent, so a second location should not have to wait too long. And I was more than happy to help with that.”
As a student, Metejoor worked a lot in the catering industry, which further fueled his love for the profession. “Due to my busy schedule, I cannot always be here myself, but I am confident that chef Victor and his team will do a fantastic job here. For example, I did my bit today by cleaning the whole place just before the people arrived, I’m a bit of a stickler in that regard. (laughs)”
This weekend, Joris will perform twice in a sold-out Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp: “I hope that the fans who come to the concert will find their way to Plant A Pizza in advance.”
As of today, you can go to Plant A Pizza at Leopold de Waelstraat 9 in Antwerp for “delicious cocktails, mocktails, natural wines, finger food and of course special Neapolitan and plant-based pizzas.”
