Justin Bieber would like to collaborate with Dutch Sven (25).

“I don’t profile myself as a DJ, MC or drummer, I am an entertainment live act. I combined my three interests in one show; I am my own DJ, show my drumming skills live and also take the microphone myself. This is what I enjoy doing the most. When I only played drums live in clubs, I was often pushed to the side or the DJ did not take me into account. By doing all three I can really express myself.”

Justin Bieber

He regularly shows the show that Sven puts on on TikTok. One of his most viewed videos is one where he performs the song Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston in a new guise. Another video that attracts a lot of attention is his remix of Justin Bieber’s Baby. When the video platform recently ended its collaboration with Universal Music Group, the audio under Sven’s video was removed. Bad luck, but there is a silver lining to this dark cloud: he has received an Instagram message from the world star himself.

“The video of Baby It was just running smoothly again when the audio was removed. A shame, because the video had collected almost 2 million views. One month ago I woke up to a message from Justin Bieber. I’m always skeptical about these kinds of things, so when I saw the message I thought I had been hacked. Things like this happen sometimes, but not that often. So it’s quite special.”

The world star says he regrets that they have removed the audio from Sven’s videos, but sees a collaboration in the future. ‘Maybe we could do a mashup together in the future’, Justin concludes his message. You don’t have to ask Sven twice, he thinks it’s something too. Have the two had any contact since then? “No, that’s it for now. Unfortunately, but I have been happy with this for a long time.”

Planting seeds

He is now also taking the show with which Sven turned the Dutch club scene upside down abroad. “That is the result of planting a lot of seeds,” he says. “People only see that things are going fast now, but they don’t know that I have been making contacts for years. I now post videos on TikTok, but I also did that on YouTube in 2018.”

This year Sven will perform in Albania and Spain and he also recently returned from a performance in Aruba. “I am very grateful that this now comes my way. It may seem like it comes naturally, but it was really hard work. What others see now is 20 percent of what is happening, the rest they do not see and I do not share.”

Collaborations

Although Sven would like to collaborate with major artists in the future, his focus now is on developing his own show. “I really believe in what I do. My goal is always to see the world through music and ultimately make a living from it. My biggest dream is to one day headline the biggest festivals in the world. Ever since I was a child, my motto has been: ‘Don’t dream your life, but live your dreams’. That’s exactly what I’m doing now; entertaining as many people as possible with what I love to do.”

Although drumming is now part of Sven’s show, he does not rule out ever getting behind the drum kit for big stars. “I would be stupid not to do it. Although I must say that I am already regularly asked if I can come and play drums alone or DJ alone. The answer is then: no. You get the whole package, no individual parts.”

The only way you’ll see Sven’s show in a different formation is if it’s built out. “I think it would be great to bring a brass band, singer, pianist and/or violinist along. Of course, having dancers is also fun. The show must remain renewed. For now, I still have to prove myself with the show I have.”
