The Gault&Millau ‘Culinary Innovators’ Awards Show took place on Monday, May 6, in Kemzeke, Belgium (East Flanders). Dimitri Beckers from C.Group and TOMA, among others, won prizes.

The Culinary Innovators Awards were created more than ten years ago to draw attention to the future of gastronomy. Under this heading, Gault&Millau rewards entrepreneurs who contribute to a better future for the sector with striking initiatives. A total of awards were presented on Monday, two of which were in Liège and Belgian Limburg respectively.

For example, the ‘Restaurant philosophy’ award went to TOMA in Liège, Thomas Troupin’s business at the foot of the Liège city walls. “He subtly immerses his guests in his world, limiting the distance between the experience in the kitchen and the restaurant. He creates a warm connection with his guests. His ambition is to bring together guests, kitchen staff and artisans and their local products in a relaxed atmosphere, dedicated to refined and local seasonal cuisine. With TOMA, Thomas Troupin not only demonstrates a very well-thought-out philosophy, he has put the Fiery City even more firmly on the culinary map with his concept.”
