Streaming service HBO Max will appear on the Belgian market on July 1, 2024. The cheapest Max subscription costs 5.99 euros per month.
Warner Bros. Discovery announced last year that it would bring HBO Max to Belgium. HBO content was previously available in Belgium, albeit via Streamz. In addition to the content already available at Streamz, HBO Max integrates Discovery’s real-life entertainment and all premium top sports broadcasts from Eurosport.
HBO Max also gives Belgian summer viewers exclusive access to all live moments from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. For all additional sporting events, HBO Max offers a ‘Sport Add-on’ for coverage of major international and European sports.
Preview from June 11
Belgian customers can take out a subscription to HBO Max from June 11. They will have free access to the streaming service for the first 14 days from June 11. Afterwards, they pay the usual rates for the selected Max subscription. During the preview period, the streaming service reports, films and series are only available in English and French. From July 1, films and series on Max can also be streamed in Dutch.
Three HBO Max subscription options
Warner Bros. Discovery is launching three subscription options for HBO Max in Belgium: Basic with advertising, Standard and Premium. Below you will find the characteristics of the various services:
Basic with advertising

- Number of devices: 2 at the same time
- Resolution: Full HD
- Offline downloads: n/a
Standard
- Price: 9.99 euros per month
- Number of devices: 2 at the same time
- Resolution: Full HD
- Offline: 30 downloads
Premium
- Price: 13.99 euros per month
- Number of devices: 4 at the same time
- Resolution: Full HD or 4K with Dolby Atmos sound
- Offline: 100 downloads
In addition to the subscription types mentioned, HBO Max offers a Sports Add-on, as mentioned. This add-on costs 5 euros per month. This includes access to Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and several other channels.
Not just ‘Max’
Just like in the Netherlands, Warner Bros. Discovery has chosen to use the name HBO Max in Belgium. They want to avoid confusion with the Dutch broadcaster Max of the same name.
Finally, Warner Bros. reports Discovery that they collaborate with the Belgian Ads & Data for the advertising subscription. That will manage the advertisements for Belgian users.
